☢️ Nuke Your City Tier List – Best Upgrades Ranked (May 2026)
Not all upgrades in Nuke Your City are equal. This tier list ranks every Machine and Research Upgrade from S-tier (must-buy immediately) down to C-tier (buy last or skip). Rankings are based on cost-efficiency — which upgrades produce the most progression speed per cash spent, accounting for both immediate and compound long-term effects.

🔧 Machine Tier List
Machines are passive multipliers purchased with in-game cash. They amplify the value of your Dropper output and explosion rewards. Unlike Dropper upgrades (raw speed), Machines multiply the value of each EXP unit or explosion. Always buy Dropper to level 5 before your first Machine purchase.
| Tier | Machine | Effect | Best Phase | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | Blast Amplifier | 2x cash per explosion | All phases | Highest ROI machine in the game — buy immediately after Dropper Lv5 |
| S | Basic Dropper Mk.2 | +50% EXP generation speed | Mid game | Extends Dropper speed past base upgrade ceiling — treat as Dropper Lv11+ |
| A | Offline Collector | ~3x offline EXP rate | Early–mid game | Essential for casual players — every offline hour becomes 3x productive from purchase |
| A | Yield Booster | Raises EXP cap for higher nuke tiers | Mid game | Unlocks higher explosion tiers and proportionally more cash per launch |
| B | City Scanner | Identifies bonus explosion zones | Late game only | Marginal improvement — only valuable once all S/A machines are secured |
| C | Cosmetic Upgrades | Visual changes only | Never priority | Zero gameplay impact — buy only after every other upgrade is maxed |
🔴 S-Tier Machines – Deep Dive
The Blast Amplifier directly doubles the cash earned per explosion. Because cash is what you reinvest into every other upgrade, this is effectively a multiplier on your entire progression speed. It compounds with every subsequent Dropper upgrade you buy. Buy this as your first Machine after Dropper level 5 in every single run.
💡 Stack multiple Blast Amplifier tiers if available — each level multiplies on top of the previous one.
The upgraded Dropper machine provides a flat +50% EXP generation speed boost on top of your base Dropper. While technically a machine, it functions as a Dropper upgrade and should be treated with the same priority. Without this, your EXP fill rate plateaus in early-mid game.
💡 Treat this as Dropper upgrade 6+ — buy it in sequence with your base Dropper levels.
👑 Research Upgrade Tier List
Research Upgrades are unlocked via the Rebirth system and are permanent across all future runs. This makes them fundamentally more valuable than any within-run Machine — they compound indefinitely. Prioritizing the right Research Upgrades is the biggest skill gap between casual and advanced players.
| Tier | Research Upgrade | Effect | Unlock Phase | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | Passive EXP Boost | Permanent base EXP generation increase | First unlock every Rebirth | Stacks permanently — every launch from Rebirth 2 onward is faster |
| S | Offline Efficiency | Permanent offline EXP rate multiplier | Second unlock every Rebirth | Compounds over every future overnight session — enormous long-term ROI |
| A | Cash Multiplier | Permanent % increase to cash per explosion | Rebirth 2+ | Enables faster Machine reinvestment in all subsequent runs |
| B | Machine Discount | Reduces Machine purchase costs permanently | Rebirth 3+ | Strong in later cycles when Machine costs are high — low value early |
🗺️ Optimal Upgrade Priority Order
Follow this sequence for maximum progression speed across all game phases:
Early Game (Run 1)
Dropper Lv1→5 → Blast Amplifier → Dropper Lv6→10 → Offline Collector → Basic Dropper Mk.2
Mid Game (Run 1 continued)
Yield Booster → alternate Dropper levels with remaining S/A machines → first Rebirth when ready
Post-Rebirth (Research Priority)
Passive EXP Boost Rank 1 → Offline Efficiency Rank 1 → Passive EXP Boost Rank 2 → Cash Multiplier
Late Game (Run 3+)
All S/A machines maxed → Machine Discount Research → full Dropper maxed → stack remaining Research
📐 How we rank upgrades
Tiers are based on bang for your buck: how much faster you progress per dollar spent at each stage of the game. S-tier picks almost always repay themselves quickly; C-tier picks are for later or for fun.

Nuke Your City Tier List – FAQ
Is this tier list updated for May 2026?
Yes. Rankings reflect the current game version as of May 2026, based on community testing and YouTube speedrun strategies from top players.
Does tier change after Rebirth?
Slightly — the Offline Collector becomes more valuable post-Rebirth due to faster base generation. Blast Amplifier stays S-tier throughout all phases.
What is the single best upgrade in Nuke Your City?
For machines: Blast Amplifier (highest cash multiplier per cost). For research: Passive EXP Boost (stacks permanently across all runs).
Should I buy C-tier machines?
Only after all S and A-tier machines are purchased. Cosmetic upgrades have zero gameplay impact and should never be a priority.
Which research upgrade should I unlock first after Rebirth?
Passive EXP Boost rank 1 immediately, then Offline Efficiency. These two compound across every future run and provide the largest long-term speed increase.
